Project Manager

OptiRTC, Inc., (Opti), an internet-of-things technology startup focused on monitoring and control of stormwater infrastructure, is seeking a full-time Project Manager to work on the Project Development Team. The position is open to start as soon as possible in Boston, MA.

Opti has developed the first commercially available product for controlling highly distributed stormwater facilities.  We control the discharge from stormwater ponds and tanks based on weather forecast information and current water levels. This technology can improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and result in more water available for reuse. Currently, we are controlling stormwater in 21 states throughout the country and are set to double in size in the next year.  Opti is the industry leader in this space, and we are constantly building new things.

The Project Development Team is responsible for managing projects from conception to completion.  Delivering Opti’s innovative solutions requires project managers to work directly with clients to understand their objectives, develop creative approaches, and collaborate with teammates and subcontractors to execute.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to,

  • Client and other stakeholder communication and satisfaction
  • Project and schedule management: keeping project in scope, on budget, on time, and delivered flawlessly
  • Collaborative work with the software development team and others in the Operations Group
  • Subcontractor direction
  • On-site reconnaissance
  • Design development and review
  • Hardware specification review
  • Sensor, valve, and other hardware selection
  • On-site construction quality assurance
  • Remote troubleshooting and support of installed projects

This position will report to the Director of Project Development.

You will be working with a team of passionate and talented software and civil engineers and scientists who are committed to Opti’s vision of more efficient cities and safer and cleaner water.

Requirements:

Preferred candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, earth sciences, or a related discipline.  Preferred candidates will also have 5 to 7 years of experience including engineering project execution, project management, and client interactions. A background in water resources and/or civil engineering is strongly preferred.

Specific requirements include:
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, distributed team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality
  • Experience working with clients
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • Experience in hydraulics and hydrology modeling, design, and analysis
  • Experience in technical proposal development and review
  • Experience working effectively in a construction environment
  • Experience reviewing and understanding civil, electrical, and mechanical plans and specifications
