Boston-based OptiRTC acquired by Aliaxis, a worldwide leader in Inventive Fluid Management Solutions

The acquisition will bring Opti stormwater technology across the globe

BOSTON, MA AND BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, NOVEMBER 2, 2022…

OptiRTC (https://optirtc.com), the leader in forecast-based control of distributed stormwater infrastructure through cloud-based solutions, announced that it has joined Aliaxis SA, a world leader enabling access to water and energy through inventive fluid management solutions, as a wholly owned subsidiary, effective October 31.

Opti CEO David Rubinstein said that the acquisition of Opti by Aliaxis will allow Opti to expand the use of its software technology across the globe. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Opti provides a cloud-based platform with products that enable Continuous Monitoring and Adaptive Control (CMAC) of stormwater storage equipment. Opti's portfolio consists of a set of field-deployed equipment including sensors, actuated valves, a cellular web gateway, and a cloud-based operations engine. The fully automated control product leverages weather forecasts to predicatively move water in advance of stormy weather.

Through this acquisition, Aliaxis will be strengthening its ability to provide solutions for one of the world's major water-related challenges - the excess of water. In the last five years, communities in America alone have faced unprecedented rainfall and over $400B in devastating flood damages. The urban stormwater runoff is a growing source of water pollution due to combined sewage overflows and under-dimensioned stormwater retention basins.

"Our team is delighted to join Aliaxis and expand Opti's impact globally, by providing the premier stormwater platform in the world to protect our environment and communities," said David Rubinstein, who will remain as CEO of Opti. "Aliaxis is well focused on delivering digital water innovations to the world as we seek to create real societal impact through these solutions. That mission is tightly aligned with Opti, as we must modernize our infrastructure to help us better predict, adapt and manage large storm events."

"Opti's technology is a perfect partner for us to provide more intelligent management of stormwater," said Patrik Gustavsson, Head of Business Unit for Aliaxis Next. "Together we will provide cutting edge digital stormwater management providing the solutions to help protect people, homes, property and communities around the globe."
